I decided to write a vilanelle, i don’t think i was very successful.

While lighting dominates the silent sky
The trees tremble in the grip of the storm
For in the night the wind can only fly

Inside their homes the people only cry
Because outside, so much damage takes form
While lightning dominates the silent sky

But I walk beneath the terrible sigh
Contently watching my mother perform
For in the night the wind can only fly

Each step treads upon ground that remains dry
Because no raindrops will dare the windstorm
While lightning dominates the silent sky

Yet I can the lightning and wind defy
Who here then can my awe to fear transform?
For in the night the wind can only fly

I walk for of this storm I am not shy
Not even when the wind and lightning swarm
While lightning dominated the silent sky
For in the night the wind can only fly.

this is only my second, so hopefully, i will get  better as i go along

Eris Quod Sum

Last night’s Heroes episode was named Eris Qoud Sum. And it was as explosive as it was predictive.

Right now, at the end of the episode, a line has been drawn and the heroes are running to either side, joining up and pretending to switch sides, trying to gain an advantage over the other side.

Daphne is pretending to be good, trying to get Matt to either fall in place with Pinehearst, or with the Company.

Which brings me to a second poll.

Sylar tries tot take on the Villains, and ends up joining with them. But he throws Peter, now powerless, out of  a window and it is suggested that he slowed the fall down, allowing Peter to escape mostly unharmed. Claire meanwhile, helps Elle, who has lost control of her power, by taking her to Pinehearst and conveniently enough manages to help Peter escape.

Mohinder joins Pinehearst and takes Maya with him, allowing Arthur Petrelli to take her power. MAya is all smiles but is terrified of Mohinder, who is all out villain now and seriously needs to die.

Nathan learns that his father is alive and decides, stupidly, to go to his father. Taking Tracy with him, leaving Noah Bennet and Meredith Gordon with the knowledge that the Company needs to regroup and prepare to take on Pinehearst.

Hiro meanwhile, argues with Usutu over how to prepare for the coming battle. Hiro refuses to go to the past, so Usutu prepared the same recipe that he made for Matt and threw him into the future, only this time, it throws Hiro into the past. Usutu says that the recipe has passed down through his family and takes people on spirit walks.

And when Arthur suggests that Daphne kill Matt, Maury reacts and Arthur kills him. So slowly, Arthur is killing off the villains, first with Adam, then Maury adopting a completely tyrannical rule over Pinehearst. Which i hope will cause the villains to divide themselves.

I was very thrilled that the episode title was in Latin, because i am learning Latin and i was actually able to translate it into English. Keep in mind that my Latin is very rudimentary: “You shall be as i am”

Which gave em a poem idea, which i guess is bad becasue NaNoWriMo starts soon, and i should be focusing on Novel Writing rather than in poetry, but i will write this one before the week is out. If i am lucky, before the day is out.

Anita Blake Comic

I am not really a fan of comic books. Actually, I’ve never read any, until Laurell K. Hamilton’s Anita Blake Series was made into one.

Now I read those and the Heroes Webcomic of course. They just finished publishing Guilty Pleasures and now started with The Laughing Corpse, except these come marked as out of 5 which makes me wonder, are they doing it in two parts or are they cutting parts out of the novel?

The cover of Issue 1 amused the hell out of my mom. Anita is dressed in a pink dress that looks like something someone might have worn to a prom, except Anita is also sporting a shotgun over one shoulder, aiming a Browning Hi-Power at the reader and the side of an Uzi is peaking from behind her back. My mom’s comment was

“Some Prom”

And I had to laugh back, because since she’s only read one Anita Blake novel, she really has no idea that this is one of the more “mild” books.

So, now I’m going to go watch more Weeds, after I read my little Anita Blake comic book, and eat, I think I’ll go out for a steak.

I’ve started watching Weeds.

and so far the best part, is Shane’s Rap at the beginning of episode five. That is not to say that the rest of the show isnt as freaken amazing as this, but still.

So, right now i’m on episode seven. I think i may done with this season by the time Heroes starts tomorrow.

Sorry i could not resist trying this poll thing out!

A Busy Week

I haven’t posted in about a week, because I’ve been busy, and strangely, still sick.

Anyway. Monday was Heroes, and the episode was Dying of the Light. And after the almost dragging last two episodes, this one rocked!

Papa Petrelli has the ability ot absorb other people’s abilities, and he begins by taking Adam Monroe’s after Knox delivers him. Adam turns to dust after he looses his ability, therefore killing him.

Arthur Petrelli then gets up and rounds up his villains,  sending Daphne, Hiro (after fake stabbing Ando) and Know to bring them to him. Then Hiro gets in trouble with Utusu, who teaches him to think and not rely on his powers. Utusu painted a picture of the Pinehearst logo and four villains who Hiro must go after.

Meanwhile, Matt tries to convince Daphne that she’s supposed to fall in love with him. Daphne finds out that Pinehearst is evil and advises Matt not to join.

Mama Petrelli is in a coma after she dreams Papa Petrelli around. Sylar helps Peter recover in order to help their mom, after which they have a much overdue fight. Peter wins and takes off to take on the villains.

Once there he freaks out because its his dad who’s in charge, he hugs him and Arthur takes his powers as well, finishing the episode with Hiro and Ando in Africa, Daphne, Flint, Knox, Maury and Arthur Petrelli at Pinehearst and a powerless Peter.

Johhny Clegg, Nelson Mandela

I’ve known who Nelson Mandela is, because my dad has talked about him for as long as i can remember. I was very young when he was elected president, but my dad was terribly happy. I was just a kid and really didn’t pay much attention.

Now, i realize just how big an issue it was. My friends, well, one of them, tells me that Africa is in my blood, even though I’m Mexican-American (yes i said Mexican, not Hispanic-American) because i care about the genocide in Darfur, and i feel strongly about genocide in general, but my awakening was because of Rwanda.

About three months ago, I stumbled across Johnny Clegg’s music while looking up information on South Africa. So i bought some of his music and i was blown away by its beauty, its message and the beat.

So i looked him up. He founded the first mixed band in South Africa, Juluka. Some people call him Le Zoulu Blanc, because of his love of Zulu dance and music, but what is important, is that he did this in a time when i was taboo, when it was not right from a white man and a black man to dance or sing together. This has made me take a closer look at South African history. And especially Nelson Mandela.

And in the process of Nelson Mandela, i found 46664, an organization working to prevent AIDS in Africa. Which I plan on helping later on. I found the charity concert online and i was much impressed.

I don’t think i need to talk about Nelson Mandela’s history. But i will, just because i figure that not many people know his history, or sadly, even who he is.

Nelson Mandela was in prison for thirty yeas, more or less, i’m not certain of the exact number. But he was arrested in 1964, and he was number 466, hence the number 46664. Eventually he was released from pricon and he was elected president in 1994. He was one of those who spearheaded the South African equal rights movement, by first becoming an icon, and then by taking the presidency.

I still alot to learn of him, obviously, and now i have his book, and i need to read it. I need more research and more perspective. So that is another project that i have to work with, in addition to working though Ursula K. LeGuin’s works, and other things that are on my mind.
